Tips for Transitioning to Innersense:

5 Tips for Transitioning to Innersense:

This weekend was the launch of the Trust Your Innersense Challenge and on Saturday I hopped on live and filmed a launch video full of tips for those of you who are using Innersense products for the first time.

Let me give you a quick recap:

  1. The very first thing that you need to know about Innersense products is that they are highly concentrated.

Where most other products contain ~70% water, Innersense products are only about 40% water, and therefore you must bring water into the equation yourself.

Do this by making sure that you fully and completely saturate your hair before introducing product, and emulsify the products in wet hands before intentionally placing them on your hair, roots and scalp.
    .
  2. This challenge is designed to shift your thinking and break your dependence on product.

When it comes to Innersense less is more. Introduce the product little by little and when you think you need more try adding splashes of water first.

The product you should be using most, by far, is water.
    .
  3. In the past, we have looked at product as something that gives us the results we are looking for, but now I want you to trust that there is so much more that just your hair and product that provide results at the end of the day.

This is a challenge about the process. The actions that you make with your hands hold more power than you have ever realized, and it’s time we embrace it.

Stay conscious, not just to the products you used but how you used them. How did you apply the product? With raking, scrunching, prayer hands, gliding? What did you do after you applied the product? How did you hair feel and what did you do to help it feel smoother and softer?
    .
  4. The Innersense Hair Baths are low sudsing and if you are used to conventional cleansers this may throw you off at first.

Adding palmfuls will not help them suds more.

If you think you need more cleansing power, try adding water first.

If you’re still not getting the clean you are looking for, rinse it all out and wash again, or upgrade your cleansing power with the Scalp Scrub or Detox Mask and then cleanse again.
    .
  5. Cleansing, scrubbing or detoxing are all slightly irritating to the hair and scalp, even when using gentle products like Innersense.

Your hair may feel more hard, coarse, dry, rough and frizzy afterward because of the space that was created by removing build-up.

More hydration will help to soften and heal your hair. Work water and conditioner deeply using raking, gliding, scrunching and pulsing.

Using a more hydrating conditioner at this time can definitely help but what is more important is how deeply you work that conditioner in.

Have you changed up how you approach your hair since transitioning to Innersense? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
